VBSchools is pleased to announce the start of the Project SEARCH program for the 2021-22 school year. Project SEARCH is a grant-funded school-to-work transition program for students with intellectual/developmental disabilities, ages 18-21, who are military dependents or military-connected, in their last year of compulsory education and who are pursuing an Applied Studies diploma. The goals of Project SEARCH include assisting interns in acquiring skills needed for gainful postsecondary employment and obtaining paid competitive employment upon completion of the program. Students who are selected to participate will receive instruction from VBCPS staff, as well as support from Didlake and the Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services (DARS), while participating in multiple internships at Naval Air Station Oceana. We are excited to partner with NAS Oceana, DARS, Didlake and Virginia Commonwealth-RRTC in implementing Project SEARCH! To learn more about Project SEARCH, please join us for an information session Jan.13 or Jan. 14 from 6-7 p.m.
